My Hospitality Journey
Hospitality can mean many things. Anything from guest services, to attractions, to food and beverage! We pride ourselves on service and serve others while providing a memorable experience for all who are impacted!
Time moves differently when you are surrounded by families making lifelong memories. One will never forget the feeling they get when they step into a Disney theme park. These moments are brought to life by the passion of Cast Members. Their magic has stuck with me since I was two and has been a part of everything I’ve ever wanted to achieve. The magic that continues to come from these amazing people is what turned my dreams into a reality.
I’ve been going to Disney World with my family since I was little and it feels like every visit has had a lasting impact on my values as a person and visions of my future. Disney has guided me to find my passion in life: helping people and seeing how a little can go a long way. I’ve known since a young age that I wanted to work for Disney, I just didn’t know how I would get there, but somehow, I've managed to find my way home.
Work Experience
Tijuana Flats Tex-Mex Restaurant
At my local Tijuana Flats, I was Front-of-House, Back-of-House, and a Trainer. I took pride in my work as a team member here, as I worked my hardest to greet guests with a smile, providing them with the best experience possible. I also worked with other team members to make the new leaders of tomorrow, where I got my foot in the Hospitality industry.
ESPN Wide World of Sports - Quick Service Food and Beverage Cast Member
At EPSN Wide World of Sports, located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, I was brought on as a Quick Service Food and Beverage Cast Member in 2021, after the COVID-19 Pandemic began to subside. In this role, I worked multiple locations across ESPN including The Grill, The HP FieldHouse, and Outdoor Vending Carts, to name a few. I also had the opportunity to work RunDisney events such as the 2022 WDW 50th Anniversary Marathon, the Princess Half-Marathon, and the Springtime Surprise Marathon. Here, I also utilized my knowledge of POS Systems and the 5 Keys of the Company (Safety, Inclusion, Show, Efficiency, and Courtesy) to provide memorable experience to all guys who visit the complex.
My previous experiences also helped me to develop my skills in this position. After working at Tijuana Flats Tex-Mex Restaurant, I was able to learn key skills that were able to utilized to both improve my own work ethic and others that I would eventually be leading. For example, from my experience at Tijuana Flats I learned how to treat others when in a leadership role and more specifically, how to not treat others. I found myself in scenarios where I did not like the way I was treated by those above me and after experiencing it for myself, I now have the ability at ESPN to make the most of the experience for those I am leading to insure they feel happy and comfortable when going to work. I also learned how to adapt my skills in face paced settings which was easily transferable from Tijuana Flats to Walt Disney World.
ESPN Wide World of Sports -
General Teller (Operations Support)
After being a Quick Service Food and Beverage Cast Member at ESPN, I was granted the opportunity to become a General Teller (GT) for the location. GT's are responsible for managing all location's financials for that department. This includes depositing money into TCR machines at the end of the night, managing the safe, balancing the safe, running change to terminals, etc.
