Leadership Roles at the University of Central Florida
The roles listed below were some of the more important leadership roles I've had throughout my undergraduate studies including a Knight-Thon Marathon Relations Impact Team Member, the Treasurer for Happiest Club on Earth, and the Marketing Director for the LEAD Scholars Academy's Leadership Excellence Board.
Overall, all of these leadership roles ended up teaching me key skills that I will undoubtedly utilize in my future career. My time with Knight-Thon taught me the importance of time management, especially when assisting high schools in reaching their milestones on time for each school's main fundraising events. Being on the Happiest Club on Earth Executive Board taught me to adapt to the unexpected which was taught after the previous board disbanded due to their differences. Being on the LEAD Scholars LEB Board taught me the importance of teamwork and working in unison with others. If it weren't for my board at the time, we would not have been able to have a seamless transition from the summer semester into the Fall and Spring. Time management, adaptability, and teamwork are all skills that will assist my future career in both Theme Park Operations and leadership and help me to lead others to success by sharing my skills with them.
I will hope to develop these skills further in my career by working with other Cast Members and practice my skills when working with others. I found these skills also to be very useful for my future responsibilities of being in leadership to prepare me for meeting deadlines, working with other leaders, and being able to adapt to serious and unexpected situations I may find myself in once in a salaried position. Although I originally chose to take on these roles due to their impact and relevance to my future goals, I throughly enjoyed my time in each position and hope I left a lasting impact with my actions.
Knight-Thon Marathon Relations Impact Team Member
During my time on the Knight-Thon Marathon Relations Impact Team, I worked hand-in-hand with high schools in the local Orlando area and assisted each school with planning and fundraising for their Dance Marathon "main event" in connection with the Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Children's Miracle Network. This included coming up with game ideas, fundraising tips, making sure the students stuck to the schedules they had planned, and connecting them to any resources they may have needed to make their dream main event come alive.
Happiest Club on Earth at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management Treasurer
Happiest Club on Earth (Rosen College) is a registered student organization at the University of Central Florida that focuses on bringing people together over their passion for Disney. This is not just limited to Disney Parks, but also Disney movies, music, and so much more! I was provided the honor to be on the reviving board for Happiest Club On Earth and worked with a team to re-register and reform the club from the ground up after the previous board lost their advisor. As treasurer, some of my duties consist of managing the financials of the club including financial decisions, purchases, and dues. I am also in change of the Instagram account and posting social media posts to our members weekly!
LEAD Scholars Academy's Leadership Excellence (LEB) Board
Marketing Director
The University of Central Florida's LEAD Scholars Academy focuses on creating and forming leaders out of UCF Knights while also helping the community around them. My role as the LEB Board's Marketing Director was to work with the high schools in the local Orlando area and recruit prospective UCF students for the LEAD Scholars Academy after they graduate. Some of my other duties also including contacting administrative teams to schedule meetings to talk to students, creating promotional items, and working with first year LEAD Scholars.
